Southwark College has launched a new ‘Step-Up’ course for 16-18-year-olds who are looking to get back into education and training. Starting this term, this exciting new course is designed to prepare students for higher-level training or apprenticeships in vocational areas that are in high demand by employers.

Annette Cast, Principal at Southwark College, commented: “The Step-Up course presents a brilliant opportunity for young learners to develop their skills and gain qualifications which will help to open doors that might have been closed due to Covid-19. We are proud to offer this excellent opportunity to support 16-18 learners during these challenging times.”

Studying in the College’s modern campus in SE1 and online, the new courses include a range of vocational units in Graphic Design, Video Editing, Digital and Computing, Business, Art and Design, Performing Arts, Music or Customer Service as well as support in English and Maths.

Students will also benefit from support in the College’s Employability Hub where coaches can assist with CV writing, accessing job vacancies with the college’s employer partners, and developing effective interview techniques.

Students can also take advantage of a number of benefits, including access to enrichment activities, relevant work experience, group tutorials, and wellbeing support. If you are looking to re-engage with education and be inspired by something new, then these courses are for you.

If you are not sure about which course you would like to study, you can arrange a one-to-one advice and guidance session to help you choose the right path.
