Southwark College recently welcomed students to its annual Freshers’ Fair 2026, bringing together employers, community organisations and support services from across London to showcase the wide range of opportunities available alongside their studies.

The event gave students the opportunity to explore enrichment activities, wellbeing services, career development programmes and local support networks. By connecting with organisations from a variety of sectors, students were able to discover opportunities to develop new skills, build confidence and make the most of their college experience.

Throughout the day, students engaged with representatives from organisations specialising in health and wellbeing, fitness, employability and community support. Fitness providers including PureGym, Energie Fitness, Future Champs, Fight4Change and Prometheus shared information about physical wellbeing, healthy lifestyles and opportunities to stay active throughout the year.

Students also had the opportunity to meet organisations providing advice, guidance and specialist support. Representatives from Change Grow Live (CGL), Young Southwark Sexual Health, the Metropolitan Police Service and the NSPCC were on hand to discuss available services, answer questions and help students access support when needed.

The Freshers’ Fair highlighted the importance of creating connections beyond the classroom and ensuring students are aware of the resources available to support their wellbeing, personal development and future aspirations. By speaking directly with employers and community organisations, students were encouraged to explore new interests, broaden their horizons and take advantage of the opportunities available to them throughout their time at college.

Southwark College would like to thank all the organisations that attended and contributed to the success of the event. Their continued support plays an important role in helping students develop confidence, access valuable experiences and build the skills they need for future success.

As the academic year gets underway, the College looks forward to seeing students engage with the many enrichment activities, wellbeing initiatives and development opportunities available, helping them make the most of their Southwark College experience and prepare for their next steps in education and employment.
