Southwark College recently welcomed local businesses to an SME cyber security event delivered in partnership with the Cyber Resilience Centre, giving organisations access to practical knowledge and advice on protecting themselves against cyber threats.
Hosted at the College, the event brought together business owners and professionals from across the local community to explore the growing importance of cyber security in today's digital landscape.
Attendees heard from experts at the Cyber Resilience Centre, who shared insights into common cyber threats facing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including phishing attacks, ransomware, data breaches and social engineering scams. The session provided practical guidance on measures businesses can take to strengthen their cyber defences and reduce risk.
Members of Southwark College's Employability Team attended the event alongside the Assistant Principal for Skills and Adult Education, reflecting the College's commitment to supporting local businesses and strengthening connections between education and industry.
Alongside the cyber security advice, attendees had the opportunity to network with fellow business professionals, exchange ideas and build connections within the local business community.
The session also gave businesses the opportunity to ask questions and discuss some of the cyber security challenges facing SMEs, while learning more about the support and resources available through the Cyber Resilience Centre.
By hosting events such as this, Southwark College is helping connect local employers with industry expertise and creating opportunities for businesses to develop their knowledge, build professional networks and respond to the challenges of an increasingly digital economy.
