All 16-18 year olds will have the opportunity to source real work experience. Many adult learners also benefit from attending work experience and choose to attend a placement. Southwark College works employers across London, who provide placements so that you get an understanding of the sector you are interested in and to enrich your university and job applications.

Work experience offers you a great opportunity to meet people already in the jobs you may progress to in the future. They may also provide you with a good reference and additional skills. If you are doing a vocational course then you may do work experience as part of your course and it could be on site at the employer’s place of work or virtually.

Southwark College students are also given the opportunity to volunteer with local organisations. These opportunities can help you meet new people, get involved in your community, learn new skills and improve your career.
