Representatives from London Metropolitan University's Big Idea Challenge returned to Southwark College to deliver a workshop to our business students in preparation for the annual enterprise competition to turn their innovative ideas into a business.

The students participated in the workshop, competed in groups against their peers and built on their entrepreneurship, teamwork and presentation skills.

Southwark College's students have competed against colleges from across the capital, showing their potential and business ideas in previous years. They were announced as the overall winners for the Schools and Colleges category in 2022 with their business idea 'INK'.

Scott Peasey, Vice Principal at Southwark College, said: "At Southwark College, we aim to encourage and support our students to take part in local and nationwide competitions. We are delighted to have welcomed London Metropolitan University representatives for a third year to help our business students in preparation for them to enter this year's Big Idea Challenge competition.

"Their participation in the workshop reflects the ingenuity of our students and highlights the opportunities we provide to support young people's innovative business ideas and entrepreneurial goals. We look forward to them developing their ideas into a real business venture."

Led by London Metropolitan University's Student Enterprise team, the Big Idea Challenge is a flagship annual enterprise competition. It has supported over 200 business ideas and championed over 20 winners, connecting them with industry mentors and sponsors. The Schools and Colleges category is designed to encourage entrepreneurship and to help students from across the capital build, develop, and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and sponsors, including NatWest, Lucidica, and many more.

The competition is open to college students and recent graduates, allowing entries to turn any idea into a business. Winners receive prizes designed to support them in developing their ideas and eventually launching their businesses.
