Southwark College was proud to host its annual 16–18 Student Awards, a celebration of achievement, creativity, and resilience across the student community. The event took place on campus and brought together students, staff, partners, and special guests for an evening of recognition and inspiration.

The awards ceremony was hosted by Sky News journalist and presenter Kamali Melbourne, who brought warmth, humour, and energy to the occasion. The evening opened with a welcome speech from College Principal Jane Button, who praised the hard work, progress and commitment of students across all curriculum areas.

A wide range of awards were presented throughout the night, with categories including Enterprise, Mental Fitness, Digital, Community Impact, Employability, Student Union Achievement, Employer of the Year, and the prestigious Student of the Year.

Presenting the awards alongside the College’s Principalship team were several notable guests and partners:

  • Oba Akinwale, Founder and Commercial Director at LoudSpeaker
  • Diana Hofler from Mind
  • Ife Davis from Proud Places
  • Steven Watterson from the Association of Colleges
  • Diana Barranco from Delancey

A special congratulations went to Ife Davis, who received the Employer of the Year Award for her outstanding work and support through Proud Places.

The celebration was more than just an awards ceremony — the campus was beautifully decorated, creating a festive and uplifting atmosphere. Guests enjoyed refreshments, a professional photographer captured winners and special moments on stage, and attendees also had the chance to explore the student art exhibition in the atrium, showcasing the creative talent of Southwark College learners.

The event was a wonderful opportunity to come together as a college community and celebrate the achievements, progress and positive contributions of our students.
