Enrol to start your course in September 2019

You need to come along to one of our Enrolment days at Southwark College in order to enrol and guarantee your place on your course – even if you’ve already had an interview and offer.

Enrolments take place at Southwark College on The Cut, SE1. Our campus is easy to reach by public transport. Here’s how to find us.

What about ESOL students?

ESOL Enrolment Process

  • HOW DO I APPLY FOR A COURSE?

You can apply for a course online (just click the ‘Apply now’ tab at the bottom of each course page) or by filling in a printed form which you can obtain by calling us on 020 3757 4000.

Find out more about our application process.

  • HOW DO I ENROL?

You can come to the College on any of the dates on our enrolment calendar, but we advise you to enrol as early as possible to secure your place.

It’s vital that you bring with you your ID and evidence of your exam results (along with details of any loans or financial assistance you’re applying for if you’re 19+). Otherwise, we won’t be able to enrol you.

If you’ve applied and received an offer:

Just come along and we’ll get you through the final stages of enrolment!

Remember that we have a huge range of courses available at all levels so if your GCSE grades are lower than expected, come to your enrolment appointment anyway, and our Guidance and Progression team will help you discuss your options.

If you’ve applied and not received an offer letter, or if you haven’t applied yet:

You should come along on one of the enrolment days and we will get you on the right track to choose and enrol on a course. You can apply and enrol on the same day.

ESOL learners: Only come to campus if you have an appointment. If you haven’t got an appointment yet, please don’t come to campus. Our courses are very busy and have waiting lists. Please see the ‘What’s the process for ESOL students?’ tab below.

This will depend on your chosen course and whether you’ve already applied or not, but will include:

    • Filling in an application form (you skip this step if you have already received an offer)
    • Interview with an academic tutor to check through your academic evidence and confirm the course you would like to enrol on
    • Processing by our Admissions team including taking your photo for your College ID card

    You may also have:

    • English and maths assessments, if you are not able to provide evidence of your English and maths GCSE grades. These assessments are not exams, they’re just to check your current level to ensure we enrol you on the right course.
    • Discussion with our Additional Learning Support team if required
    • Fee assessment if required

Our Guidance & Progression team, Apprenticeships team and Childcare Bursary advisors will also be available at every enrolment day to give you support and advice.

  • HOW LONG DOES ENROLMENT TAKE?

You should expect to be with us for around 2 hours if you are NOT taking an English or maths assessment.

If you are taking an English or maths assessment, these will take one hour each.

We will do all we can to make things run as smoothly and quickly as possible, but please be patient: it’s important we cover everything properly at enrolment in order to avoid issues later on.
