Southwark College Nextgen Games Design students publish their first publicly available game, Paper Odyssey on Steam.
Five 16-18-year-olds have become the first Southwark College students to publish their game, Paper Odyssey on Steam, the world's largest platform for PC games.
Produced as part of the Nextgen Games Design course, it will launch at 12pm on Wednesday 21 January live on Steam at a launch event held at the College’s own Digital Hub.

Celebrations took place at The Young Vic to highlight the success of Southwark College students in completing the Supported Internship Programme. Seven students participated in the programme and had the opportunity to undertake specialised and bespoke internship placements with local employers, including The Young Vic, Guy's and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and Hilton London Bankside.

The exhibition celebrated the young talent in Southwark, including work from courses, Fashion, 3D Design, Art, and Media and was live for visitors to view over the course of three weeks as part of this year’s Southwark College’s Creative Arts Summer Show.

As part of an initiative to showcase the importance of sustainability in fashion, Southwark College hosted a week-long fashion recycling workshop for students from Italy, Portugal and Turkey, as part of the Erasmus+ programme. The ‘Creative Fashion Recycling Workshop’ focused on upcycling and recycling, showing students how they can transform their old clothing, reduce waste and limit the environmental impact of their fashion purchases.

The students work collaboratively, with their teachers to organise and curate the exhibition which included a series of paintings and sculptures created by the students inspired by artwork they have previously seen in museums and galleries in London.

The community event, entitled A Day @ AGR HQ: CUSTOMISE > COLLABORATE > CURATE > CAPTURE, allowed young people to work with leaders, designers and creatives in the fashion industry.

The exhibition was curated and designed by young creatives from Southwark and Lambeth. They worked with multi-disciplinary artists, Myah Jeffers and QianEr Jin to celebrate and explore The Young Vic's role in shaping the local community.

Southwark College joined the fifth Colleges Week, organised by the Association of Colleges (AoC), to shine a light on all the impactful work that colleges do to build communities, boost businesses, and support individuals to be equipped with the skills they need to achieve their career ambitions. This year's celebration focused on staff, students and skills. During the week, staff and students participated in various activities to support the AoC's 'Love Our Colleges' campaign, including a live dance performance choreographed by dance students inspired by Black Culture.
