    GCSE English and maths at grade 4 (C) or Functional Skills Level 2.

    You will be assessed using 2 paper-based exams and practical assessments.

    Aims of the course

    This Pearson Edexcel GCSE Chemistry course will provide students with a distinct Science GCSE qualification. It is suitable for anyone wishing to obtain a GCSE in the field of Science but is especially suitable for students looking to pursue further scientific study in Chemistry or to more technical careers in science or healthcare as well as those wishing to train as a primary school teacher.

    Progression Opportunities

    Upon successful completion of this one-year programme you may be able to study on an Access to HE course.


    Learning will take place on campus in laboratories and ICT rooms. Students will also benefit from trips and day visits to exhibitions.

    Career Options

    Upon successful completion students can go on to pursue careers in teaching allied professions in the medical field and science-related industries or onto Access to Higher Education.
