This qualification has been developed alongside consultants with years of industry knowledge to ensure that it is fit for purpose. It is designed to prepare learners to progress to a higher level qualification in the same sector or a related area or employment within the digital and creative industries and other industries that require specific digital and IT skills within Networking and Cybersecurity.

    Entry Requirements

    This course is for 19+ learners. You need to have achieved English and Maths at Level 1 or equivalent and successfully completed the Level 1 Cybersecurity course.

    Assessment Method

    Assessment is based on activities set by the tutor. These can include case studies practical tasks or demonstrations question/answer tests/exams written assignments essays and reports and tutor observation.

    Aims of the course

    To provide students with a thorough understanding of project management concepts and methodologies and the use of project management software to plan IT projects to allow for progression to Level 3 or Level 4 diploma in Networking and Cybersecurity including Gateway qualifications and digital technologies and computer science related degrees.

    Progression Opportunities

    This qualification will give you the additional skills to enhance your knowledge within software development and areas of the digital sector. On completion you can progress onto a Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Networking and Cybersecurity including Gateway Qualifications. You can also apply for digital technologies and computer science courses which may include data analytics games design and a wide range of IT courses.


    We have a wide range of computer rooms and labs where you will learn a range of skills. You will also have access to breakout areas for independent learning.

    Career Options

    This course gives you the potential to progress to higher-level courses in digital technologies and computer science. These may include some of the following areas of study and employment or apprenticeships at a junior level: Artificial Intelligence Robotics Computer Science CyberSecurity Data Analytics Data Science Digital Technologies Games Design Games Development Information Systems Software Engineering and a wide range of other IT courses.
