This qualification is suitable for learners interested in planning events. It provides an overview of the skills required for successful event planning and organisation. This qualification will focus on the study of the event planning within the retail and commercial sector. It offers breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge and will provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills.

    Entry Requirements

    You will need GCSE English and Maths at grade 3 or above. A successful completion of a substantial Level 1 qualification plus an initial assessment that indicates an appropriate level of English and mathematical ability, and a satisfactory reference.

    Assessment Method

    The assessment mechanism incorporates a range of methods, including assessment tasks designed and set by the Centre, internal assessment of learner work, and both internal and external moderation of assessment. There are no additional external assessments for this course. Learners may be evaluated through case studies, oral presentations, practical tasks or demonstrations, written and oral question-and-answer activities, tests or examinations using seen or unseen papers, tutor observations, worksheets, written assignments, and written essays or reports.

    Aims of the course

    The aims of this qualification are to provide an overview of the skills required for successful event planning and organisation, develop the ability to evaluate an event, and allow learners to explore market research while investigating appropriate marketing methods and resources. It also enables learners to identify the personnel needs associated with running an event and offers an overview of the role of communication and customer service within event environments.

    Progression Opportunities

    Learners who achieve this qualification can progress to a range of Level 3 programmes, including the Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Customer Service, the Level 3 Diploma in Live Events and Promotion, the Level 3 Diploma in Event Management, and the Level 3 Certificate in Event Management. They may also choose to move directly into employment.

    The model of delivery will be classroom-based learning. You will have access to our digital learning platforms that will provide you with a range of materials and resources to support your learning whilst on this course. Individual tutorial support is available. Additional learning support is also available, if required.
