".. I feel extremely safe studying at Southwark College because I am surrounded by trusting lecturers and they do not tolerate any students showing unacceptable behaviour. I also feel safer now I know the rules the College have enforced involving safeguarding. I know the College has decided to have random knife arches to make sure no students are carrying anything dangerous and are not briging anything illegal on site. The College has also become very strict about ID cards and if you do not have it you are not allowed in. Bringing small changes to the College helps prevent big travesties that have affected other colleges." "Personally, I feel safe at Southwark College because the security guards roaming around the College, ensuring everyone is safe and wearing their ID, has made a more safe atmosphere. Every student knowing and feeling protected and having the peace of mind that there is no chance of an intruder entering the College also adds to that atmosphere." "Southwark College has become a very safe place for me to study over the years I have attended. I feel safe within the College. There are security guards when I enter the College and they have the great ability to keep the whole College a protected environment. Also, the regular checking of ID cards has made me sure that learners and staff at Southwark College are those that are either studying or working here. Another reason why I feel safe is because my teacher makes me feel welcome when in need of help or general study problems." "… things that make me feel safe studying at Southwark College is that we have security guards walking around the college and they also make sure that only students are allowed to enter the building by checking their ID cards and we have lovely friendly students & staff that will make you feel safe." |

" I’ve really grown up during my time at Southwark College. It’s a different mentality coming to college rather than a school and I like it. Southwark College also encourages students to become more involved in everyday college life and this includes Student Union, Course Representative and Student Ambassador.”
