This course is ideal for those who would like to enter the Access to Higher Education Diploma course but don't yet have enough experience in written and spoken English. It is suitable for adults who have been out of education for some time and who need to prepare for study at a higher level before progressing onto the L3 Access programme. On the successful completion of this course students will be awarded the OCNLR Level 2 Diploma in Progression.

Although there are no formal entry requirements for this course you will be required to complete an initial assessment that indicates an appropriate level of English. If you do not already have Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and maths you will also be expected to enrol for them alongside this course (also in GCSE Science where relevant).
You will produce a portfolio of evidence, including practical demonstration, written tasks, group discussions, projects, case studies, essays, presentations, and oral question and answer. There are no formal examinations
Aims of the course
The Level 2 Pre-Access Progression course provides you with the opportunity to develop a range of knowledge and skills. These include participating constructively in group discussions, collaborating effectively in teams, applying problem solving processes, developing practical presentation skills, using academic writing protocols and forming logical arguments. These skills will support your progression to the Level 3 Access to HE Diploma course.
Successful achievement of this qualification enables students to pursue further study on the L3 Access to HE Diploma of their choice.
This course is classroom-based, it will also include workshops, tutorials, independent study and online learning opportunities. You will also have access to our VLE site (Google Classrooms) that will provide you with a range of materials and resources to support your learning whilst on the course. Additional learning support is also available if required.
This qualification provides a route to a wide range of careers, dependent on what subject the student opts to study at degree level.
