IT & Computing

This Level 1 qualification is all about gaining good IT skills and make you more employable. These skills will enable you to work effectively and productively when you get a job. They will also help you to progress on to a higher level course in Information Technology (IT). If you enjoy using computers then you will be able to use this enthusiasm, as well as your own knowledge and skills, to the content of the course.

The course work that you will do is all based on work-related scenarios. This means you will be able to make the connection between what you learn at college and how you will use this skills and knowledge in the workplace.

The units we offer will help you to make the important next-step decision ? and will support your progression to a more specialised level 2 vocational or academic computing course, or to an Information Technology apprenticeship or job.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs E-F / or Grade 2 (in 2017 GCSEs) Or Relevant Entry Level qualification or Relevant industry experience to Level 1 or above

  • When you are accepted onto this course you will also be given the opportunity to develop your skills in English and maths. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.

    Aims of the course

    The course aims to give you the opportunity to gain a broad understanding and knowledge of Information Technology. You will also focus on the skills you will need as you prepare for employment.

    Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress to a more specialised level 2 vocational or academic computing course, or to an Information Technology apprenticeship or job.
