IT & Computing

This course is designed to provide many of the skills required by employers. It is an in-depth two year programme that covers a wide range of topics which will combine academic and practical study of the skills you will need to enter the profession. By the end of the programme you will receive a nationally recognised qualification that will help you seek your first position in IT.

You can gain employment as business analysts, systems designers, database developers, database administrators and website developers in a wide range of organisations and also opportunities in information systems security, IT management roles and network service administrators.

This course leads to a further year on the BSc (Hons) Business Technology programme to complete at the University of Greenwich, which will be subject to passing this course, the university entry process and its requirements including the availability of places.

The aims of the programme are:

  • To educate in the theory, technology, practice and application of Computing and the development of information systems
  • To give a coherent and integrated learning experience relevant to the needs of future computing professionals
  • To provide awareness of social, legal, ethical and political implications of information technology within a computing environment.

Cash bursary

  • Students on this course are eligible for a means-tested cash bursary of up to £1,000 for each year of study, which is designed to help you with your living expenses, travel and materials.

Entry Requirements

To apply for this course you must be aged 18 or over on or before the 31st August 2018

You will need to come to the College for an interview and complete an aptitude test. You will also need GCSE English and maths at grade C or equivalent and should be educated to A level standard.

    Assessment Method

    Learners are assessed through activities that are internally set by tutors.

    These include role play, practical demonstration, report writing, group discussion, essay, written question/answer
