This programme is for those who have successfully completed the level 3 Diploma with us or at another institution. This second year of study consolidates and secures technical and performance skills to prepare you for vocational and HE study in dance. Classes continue in the core techniques Classical Ballet Contemporary Jazz choreography improvisation contextual studies at a higher level whilst preparing for applications auditions and interviews for dance schools and universities. The Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 A-levels.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs A*-C / or 9-4 (in 2017 GCSEs). Relevant level 2 qualification with Merit or above. Relevant industry experience to level 2 or above.
Assessment Method
You will be continually assessed throughout the year units 9-12 of the UAL qualification. Units 9-11 are graded PASS FAIL REFERRAL and Unit 12 is graded PASS MERIT and DISTINCTION. You will be assessed on your performances choreographic work research and essay writing evaluations and reflective logbooks video diaries and presentations.
Aims of the course
The aim of this course is to provide dance training at an advanced level and to prepare you effectively for the transition into training and studying at degree level and beyond.
Progression Opportunities
On successful completion of the Extended Diploma many of our students gain places at prestigious vocational schools and conservatoires such as Trinity Laban London Studio Centre London Contemporary Dance School Rambert school of Ballet and Contemporary dance Northern School of Contemporary Dance Urdang Academy and Bird College. Students also go on to study at the best universities for dance including Middlesex and Roehampton. Some former students have progressed directly into employment in the performing arts industry. You could also progress onto our HNC in Dance studying at Level 4.
Facilities
We have three large purpose-built dance studios fully equipped with sprung floors mirrors ballet barres and changing rooms as well as a 92 seat in house theatre. The course is delivered via daily technique classes creative sessions rehearsals tutorials dance theory lessons and performances both on and off site. Our students are given many enrichment opportunities throughout the year including theatre trips performance opportunities work experience and visits and performances from 3rd year students at Laban London Contemporary Dance School and London Studio Centre.Extended Diploma students also have additional workshops rehearsals and audition practice with a range of professional choreographers and dance artists.
Career Options
A very large number of our former students have gone on to have very successful careers in dance either directly after completing the course or after further training as performers choreographers youth dance leaders dance teachers/lecturers and artistic directors. What can I earn as a dancer? When you're deciding what to study post-16 it's important to think about where your course will lead. As a qualified dancer you'll be starting on an exciting career path with the opportunity to progress and earn a good salary whether you become part of a dance company or work as a freelancer. For example Dancers and Choreographers start on around 22 000 a year and can earn 25 000 with 3 years.
