Evidence (a portfolio) of creative work in a related visual arts field. 4 GCSEs at grade four or above including English and mathematics.
Continuous assessment: by project completion, online and hard-copy portfolio submission, presentations, written research projects, group work; and primarily by two externally-assessed projects.
Aims of the course
The UAL Level 3 Applied General Diploma in Art and Design is designed to be an 'Applied General' qualification that provides you with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress onto further learning. The skills developed throughout this qualification may also support you to progress into appropriate entry level roles in employment and training programmes or apprenticeships in the creative industry.
This qualification will support students to progress or transition to a range of further education and vocational courses, such as:
- UAL Level 3 Applied General Extended Diploma in Art and Design
- UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design ? Foundation Studies
- UAL Level 4 Diploma in Art and Design ? Foundation Studies
The programme is delivered through a mixture of lessons, workshops, and projects, and happens - in the classrooms, in the studios, off-site in trips to galleries, in projects with external partners.
Career options on completion The primary purpose of the diploma is to aid students to progress to further learning. However, the transferable skills and knowledge developed as part of this qualification will support students to progress into appropriate entry level roles or higher apprenticeships in the creative sector. This qualification attracts UCAS tariff points and therefore may be recognised by higher education providers as meeting admission requirements, either in its own right or alongside other Level 3 qualifications, to many relevant courses.
