What made you choose Southwark College?

Testimonial

" I’ve really grown up during my time at Southwark College. It’s a different mentality coming to college rather than a school and I like it. Southwark College also encourages students to become more involved in everyday college life and this includes Student Union, Course Representative and Student Ambassador.”

"Southwark College put me on the straight and narrow path as soon as I joined to study. They made me realise that the college is not like school. I have learned a lot at Southwark College and I’m extremely thankful for everything they have done for me"

About Us | Print |  E-mail

Our goal at Southwark College is to make your learning enriching and enjoyable. Our learners come from a variety of backgrounds and ages, so we organise learning so that everyone gets the support they need and an individual plan for success. This web site will give you an insight into Southwark College and the many courses and services we offer.

If you’re leaving school you can find out about our courses for 16-19 year olds. You can also read about clubs, activities and facilities where you can enjoy yourself while you are with us - student life doesn't  start and end in the classroom. We also have links with local secondary schools and run courses in partnership with schools for 14-16 year olds, to offer a taste of vocational education.

Adults come to the College to develop their skills, to work on their English or Maths or to learn new skills like information technology or the internet. Some adults study during the day, others after work, some are sent by their employer and some are studying full-time to help find employment. We run courses at all levels, from entry and foundation levels to higher education. We have full-time and part-time courses, some with flexible and distance learning options.

Providing customised training for employers is an exciting new development for the College. We have strong links with medicine and health related employers, including the NHS, and with business in the cultural and creative industries. Our medical learning centre at Waterloo provides courses for health professionals. We welcome international students who want to study in the heart of London. In particular, our Medical English courses have a well-deserved international reputation.

Southwark College is a friendly, local college. Many of our buildings have been improved and refurbished and our new entrances take you into student learning and support centres, educational guidance offices and nurseries - all of which will provide a friendly welcome to you.

I hope you enjoy your tour through the College on this website. Join the growing number of people who make Southwark College their first choice, and find out how many of our courses now provide extra learning and support through our Student Web, enabling students to keep in touch with tutors electronically.
